Who we are

Bites Local Ltd ("Bites Local", "we", "us") provides websites and WhatsApp ordering tools for independent restaurants. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and what rights you have over it.

What we collect

Contact details you give us directly, such as your name, email address and restaurant name, when you fill in a form on this site.
If you sign up your restaurant: your kitchen’s WhatsApp number, which we use only to send you orders and never show on the site, and the menu link or files, logo and photos you send us, which we use to build your restaurant page.
Basic usage data, such as pages visited and general location, collected through analytics cookies (only if you've accepted them).
Any information you send us by email or WhatsApp when getting in touch.
When you order through a restaurant on Bites Local: your WhatsApp number and name, the order itself, your delivery address and postcode, and any notes or allergy details you include.

How we use it

To respond to enquiries and set up your restaurant on Bites Local.
To pass your order to the restaurant, arrange delivery, and send you updates about that order on WhatsApp.
To send you information about your account or service updates.
To understand how the site is used, so we can improve it, where you've consented to analytics cookies.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your data. When you order, we share the details needed to make and deliver it with the restaurant you ordered from and, for deliveries, with the courier company carrying it. Messages are sent through WhatsApp, which is operated by Meta. Payments are handled by Stripe: we never see or store your full card details. If you type your order as a message, it is read by an AI model to match it to the menu, and it is not used to train that model. We may share it with trusted service providers who help us run Bites Local (such as hosting or email providers), and only where required by law.

How long we keep it

We remember your name and last delivery address against your WhatsApp number, so next time we can simply ask you to confirm it. Reply FORGET ME to Bites Local on WhatsApp at any time and we delete them. We keep personal data for as long as necessary to provide our service and meet our legal obligations, and delete it when it's no longer needed.
